Thanks for stopping by. I’d like to introduce myself – I’m Sleepycat. Along with Baron, I run this site. Like a lot of guys who got into the Pick Up scene I was a real nerd when I was younger. One day, it was about a month after I turned 16 I clearly remember, I still had never even kissed a girl (I did get really excited when I hugged one to be fair.) and something inside me snapped. I said “screw this – I want to get good at this.”

WARNING: This post is about my story, and one path to success with women (and how you can choose a much better one). Also it’s very long, but worthwhile (though I would think so.) Have a lookie over here if you’re looking for tips and tactics, or articles that’ll help you develop yourself.

I had no idea that it would set me on a path that would fundamentally change my life.

It was back in the heady and reckless days of the internet back in 2000-2001, long before “The Game”, before all these new-fangled seduction societies and courses. I remember reading Mystery’s original posting saying that he was thinking of taking one or two guys out to teach them how to pick up. That had never been done before – back then the big thing was pick-up challenges – it was Mystery and this guy Ross Jefferies telling each other how rubbish they were and how each picked up girls so much better than his rival. (You can still have a look at those old archives on Google Groups at http://groups.google.com/group/alt.seduction.fast – which you’re at it, have a look at pickupguide.com, that was like science fiction to me in those days!)

I wasn’t popular at school, I had no friends who were girls (much less girlfriends), and I was hugely, hugely awkward in social interactions. So at 16 I set out on my life-changing path to learn how to pick up girls. It turned out to be so much more, and one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.

I started with a fundamental belief that I still hold: Confidence comes from Competence, and Competence comes from practice. In other words, you’re going to be rubbish at whatever it is you’re learning until you do it a million times, and only then you’ll be confident at it. (Most of us look for it to be the other way around, and so we become these ‘mental masturbators’ who never actually do anything, but read and think just to make ourselves feel good about things.)

So I started approaching groups. At Mystery’s exhortation I went for 12 groups a night. Never really got that many, either because in the beginning my poor psyche was crushed, or later on because I got involved. I have over the last ten years approached upwards of 7-8 000 groups, so I’m pretty good at it now as far as that goes… (I now approach between 10-15 groups a night on average). But in the beginning, I was horrible. I mean terrible. The first 50 I went up to (and I went up with my black book in my pocket with things to say and test and then I’d go away and write up why I thought they didn’t work) were so terrible.

I tried all kinds of things – routines, patterns, hypnosis, comedy acts, palm-reading and dark arts — you name it, I’ve tried it, and I try everything at least 20 times before I can it (which more than once was shockingly embarrassing…). But one thing I honestly, and truly believe from the core of who I am: You don’t need to be unethical to be attractive – a man should always be a man, and he should be a gentleman. (more on that later.)

But it got better with time, my second 50 were just bad (a vast step up from horrible – I was no longer asked to leave, just laughed out, it was great…). My next 50 were embarrassing. But then a funny thing started happening: people actually started having conversations with me. And laughing. It was so cool. I mean, I was nowhere near getting laid to be sure, but I realised that there was a light at the end of this tunnel and I could make it.

Bear in mind I did this in front of all my friends, and because I wasn’t 18 yet I couldn’t go to clubs, so it was at the ice-rink – the MOST public venue imaginable, with a gigantic glass wall where kids from school would hang out and watch on their way to the movies. I got laughed at a lot! …but once again, a funny thing happened – I started to get popular at school, people would talk about how this guy was out there picking up girls, and they admired my balls for doing it.

Fast-Forward 10 years and here I am. I’ve taught guys how to pick up girls (I even taught a church group how to go up to random people and evangelise them – yes, I did have that phase, no, I’m not proud of it – but I learnt a lot!). I have met some drop-dead gorgeous girls and had them giggling nervously like kiddies, and taken them home and had some magic times with them. I’ve approached, and met people everywhere I’ve traveled and scored girls and made friends in more than 10 countries.

My style is a quirky, gentlemanly charm. I’m a marketing type, and I believe deeply in differentiation – so I think it’s important to have your own personality, your own endearing quirks and a hunk of mystery. At the same time I think we’re most successful, and most charming when we’re gentlemen. Open doors, say please and thank you, help her save face and look good. You know, normal good manners and polite breeding.

That doesn’t mean you can’t take her round back and fuck her brains out (in fact, it’s encouraged!). It just means you should open the door for her on your way out… Baron has different ideas – he’s also a gentleman, but he loves to push the bounds. I never insult a girl on purpose (though I might put her in her place with a word, or proper body language). We’re a great team because we complement each other so beautifully – it’s like that negotiation tactic “Good Cop-Bad Cop”, but in real life.

Naturally I’m an introvert who learnt how to bring out my personality and be Confident around Girls (and people in general for that matter). I used to be shy and sit in the corner while all my friends would meet and attract beautiful women. Know the feeling? What frustrated me is that around friends and family I was funny and witty, with a lot to offer, but, as soon as a new girl came into the equation I would lock up and not even give myself an oppertunity to meet her. I’m sure most of you out there know exactly what I am talking about!

So this me- Baron…. I’m hesitant to call myself a mPUA, because I don’t see myself as an artist- I dont feel you have to trick a girl to attract her. I don’t use routines, no magic, no palm reading…. None of that B-S! I’ve TAUGHT myself HOW TO BE A NATURAL….

My style- I call it the triple C ..Cool, Calm, Confident….

Anything comes back to those 3 states. TRUST me If you get those sorted you will meet the girl of your dreams in no time.
